Hi,

I'm about to build my first PC in a while and because I volition continue to employ my current SSD, I searched around a bit for the recommended arroyo to take with regards to reinstalling Windows. Edit: My motherboard is the MSI B450 Gaming Plus MAX and the manual says in 'Boot Mode Select' I tin choose betwixt 'UEFI' and 'LEGACY+UEFI', so UEFI will be enabled anyways, correct? Would I only have to do the convert to GPT then?

It's actually very unproblematic.
Boot priority settings in BIOS will have several boot entries, for example:
[UEFI] HDD or Windows Boot Manager​

Entries with [UEFI] - are UEFI boot entries (Windows Boot Manager as well). Rest of them are legacy kick entries.

To install windows in UEFI mode, you accept to kick installation media into UEFI mode.
To kicking into UEFI way, you have to choose UEFI boot pick. That's it.

You tin convert existing windows 10 installation from legacy/MBR to UEFI/GPT with mbr2gpt utility.

As to about - is information technology worth it? Nah. Non worth to stress about it.

You don't have to do annihilation manually,installing windows will take care of everything on its own,simply don't change anything in your new bios and it will exist on UEFI past default and windows will set everything information technology needs to.
If y'all keep onetime partitions it will not change annihilation merely yet work normally without any negative furnishings,the only thing UEFI/GPT is adept for is that it can handle more than active partitions and so you tin have more OSs installed with less fuzz.
If you delete all your old partitions and re format the drive information technology volition change it to GPT.

Oh, okay. The other commenter said information technology will install in UEFI automatically? Just if it'south non that of import anyways I judge I could just have quick look around BIOS when I first ready to kick from USB. If I'one thousand sure almost having to alter something I'll do it, if non I'll merely see if it will work automatically. If information technology doesn't I can even so try this mbr2gpt if it happens to bother me.
